Love is at the core of the life in Christ Jesus. The greatest commandments given to us are to love the Lord with all of our hearts, minds, soul and strength as well as to love our neighbours as we love ourselves (Matt 22:37-40). God is love defined and love only comes from Him, we as children of God love because He first loved us (1 John 4:7-21). So apart from God we do not have the ability to love neither do we know what love is, the Father pours His love that surpasses all knowledge on us so that our lives may be an outpouring of His love. Love is also a fruit of the Spirit that sealed upon us when we are rebirthed in Jesus Christ (Gal 5:22).
Lay down your life
Women of God are ought to lay down their lives for each other as this is what love is (1 John 3:16) and this is the work of a true disciple that we deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Jesus who is love Himself. True disciples of Jesus Christ are identified by how they love one another (John 13:34-35). When unbelieving women look at the relationship between sisters in Christ they should see the extension of God’s love between us as we uphold the biblical principles of sister-hood.
Sisters in love
Love is very much misunderstood and one of the most loosely misused words in this world since love according to the ways of the world is reduced to just being a set of confused emotions. This ignorance to what love truly is results to broken relationships between women where we find ourselves competing and comparing each other. We also fall into the sin of envy, jealousy and anger because of undealt with issues of bitterness, self-pity and insecurities embedded in our hearts as opposed to the love of Jesus Christ reigning in our hearts so that we can be sisters humbly united in love.
Break me to love Lord
We should pray for God to break us and rebuild us into becoming ever-flowing fountains of love because we owe no one anything, except to love each other (Rom 13:8). In the Bible when we read 1 Corinthians 13 we are taught about the way we should love and what the manifestation of love is in our lives. Yes indeed we the just shall live by faith and be powerful tongue speaking prayer warriors, but even that means nothing if we do not have love (1 Cor 13: 1-3).
Love even when it hurts
So dear beautiful woman who is fearfully and wonderfully made let all of you be consumed with the love of God for He loves us, we love Him, we love ourselves, we love our neighbours and we also love our enemies (Matt 5:43-48). We must selflessly love our way through life no matter what response we get and without expecting anything in return (Luke 6:27-36). Let us pray to have that same Spirit that was in Jonathan and David (1 Sam 18:1-5) so that we can love each other as women and be true sisters who are the embodiment of love. We women who are immersed in the loving grace of God should resolve to walk in love and influence the nations to govern in love that covers a multitude of sins (1 Pet 4:8).
